Order flow basics – What is the DOM? Why is it useful?

This video covers all of the basics. It explains exactly what you are seeing on the DOM (depth of market, ladder, order book) and why you should watch it. It is a requisite for new traders who are trying to learn the fundamentals.

Order Flow Presentation on Big Mike’s Trading Forum (now futures.io)

This was a partner presentation with Peter Davies of Jigsaw Trading and hosted by Big Mike. This is probably the most in-depth youtube video I’ve done and certainly the most viewed. I presented the fundamental core principles behind trading and reduced it in such a way that there can be no misunderstanding about what’s actually happening. If you don’t know the rules of the game, you can’t beat it. If you want to know what’s really taking place behind the scenes, what drives movement and why a solid scalping methodology is one of the best ways to capitalize on intraday movement, this is a good place to start.

Is Scalping Legit?

I discuss the various strategies which are used by the heavy hitters in the trading world and use their own words to prove that this is how they trade. This video provides insight into the trade management strategies of individuals who trade thousands of contracts. It covers accumulation/distribution, squeeze plays, reversing positions and moving the market as a result, averaging in an attempt to halt a move and turn losing trades into break-even trades, and many more topics.

One of my better interviews. July 2022. I shared some information during this interview which I’ve not discussed anywhere else on YouTube.

Another interview which was well received.

An extremely honest review of my course as well as many other trading courses.

Sharks vs Sharks: Facts and myths about institutional trading

I discuss some of the facts and myths about investment banks, funds, principal trading firms, market makers and proprietary trading firms. Most of the daily volume is created by the larger traders in the world (sharks) and they are frequently playing against each other. They are not playing against the average retail 1 lot trader.

The evolution of HFT and its impact on retail traders

Some history on the development of HFT programs and how the trading world changed as a result. Worth the watch.

ES trade on the Jigsaw Trading DOM

I explain some of the features of the Jigsaw Trading depth and sales platform and illustrate how I use the information on it to make trades. I show a sample of live ES trade which was, once again, predicated on price action and volume only. This video was made a couple years ago and since then, some additional helpful features have been added to the Jigsaw platform.

Understanding context and living in the now

This video is an excerpt from one of the starter videos in my webinar series. It explains how a trader needs to be focused on the context of the situation as there is not a concrete set of rules which works 100% of the time. Before entering a trade, the following question should always be asked: Who’s going to hit the next price?

Podcast interview I did with Graham at www.pricesquawk.com

Graham from www.pricesquawk.com is an order flow trader who is very familiar with my course material. He recently started his own podcast series and this is an hour long Q&A session which touches on a range of topics including my experience with prop firms, what I look for when entering and exiting and how psychology plays a huge role in the bottom line.

The original link is here: http://www.pricesquawk.com/john-grady

Graham has developed some interesting software specifically aimed at order flow traders which is designed to help improve speed as well as identify when things may be picking up or slowing down. You can check it out on his site. This is a podcast and there’s an intro with some music so don’t let that throw you. It doesn’t actually start mid-sentence.

Presentation I did with Futures.io about choosing the right market to trade.

Another presentation I did on Big Mike’s which is now futures.io. Choosing the right market.

Live Webinars

The next CME/CBOT webinar will run May 1st to May 12th, 2023. Participants see real trades in real time and have access to the recordings of each day. The recordings from the March, 2023 webinar are now available.

In addition to futures, I also offer a Stock and ETF Trading Webinar. All the details are available on my "Live Trading" pages.
